 Pioneer's Commitment to the Finest Wood Selection

     At Pioneer, wood selection is the first step in quality craftsmanship.  With access to the world's finest stands,  Pioneer delivers premium aged and air dried Western Red Cedar.  Its straight grain and natural stability limits settling, twisting, and checking.  Logs and corners are cut to shrink-fit, becoming more tightly bonded as the house naturally settles. 

     Cedar contains natural oils that act as preservatives to resist insect infestation and decay.  The same structure that gives cedar its excellent insulating and sound suppressing qualities make it a light weight wood, free of pitch and resin.

      Cedar has an unusually long life span with a cell degradation of approximately 1/4 inch per 100 years.  In addition, the R Factor of Western Red Cedar far exceeds alternative construction with a rating of 28 - 40 depending upon log diameter.
